Although it is impossible to capture the depth, intricacies, and soul of a culture with any art form, the following series offers a glimpse into her experiences through her own photographs and the words of Callie Flood, Peace Corps Volunteer in Fogo and fellow UML alumni.
Sarah currently lives in Woburn and is the program coordinator for the eating disorders program at Walden Behavioral Care, Waltham MA. She is working toward her Masters in Mental Health Counseling. (sarahcoughtry@gmail.com)

9. Megan Lewis: Studied Photography at UMass Lowell. Excerpt from her writing: "It is safe to say that life happens when you are making plans and we often define ourselves by those bumps in the road. For myself I define who I am as an artist and as an individual. I am one in the same however my work often portrays a darker side of my personality that is only shared through my photography and writings. I often wonder why I am drawn, at times unknowingly, to darker images and produce such work. Perhaps that can be explained by the two images I have chosen to share."

_________
13. Michelle Ruszczyk:With these images I am finding the simplicity of complex places. Taken all over Boston, MA, and New York, NY, I look through the lens and focus on shape, line, perspective, color, and composition. Bringing the photographs back to their most fundamental elements by getting up close with qualities of these cities. When walking down the streets, I find the things people don’t always see or acknowledge. I am constantly observing, not only the streets of the city, but everywhere. I feel I am most successful shooting when I am aware of all my surroundings.
